The Tuscany Region has established the Feast of Tuscany with the Decree of 21 June 2001, n. 26 to commemorate the abolition of the death penalty on 30 November 1786 (for the first time in the world) by the Grand Duke of Tuscany, and to reaffirm its commitment to promoting human rights, peace and justice, building elements of the Tuscany. The festival is celebrated with many initiatives that the Regional Council, provinces and municipalities, associations and institutions of the area have organized and involving all areas of the region between November and December.
